Costa Rica which is known to be a democratic republic country has a very well balanced constitution that has been modified through many amendments that have occurred over the years. The main role of the nation’s constitution is determining the executive responsibilities that are assigned to the center of power- the President. The country has a pretty complex administrative system run by the president, two vice presidents and a cabinet of fifteen members. The country’s policies are watched closely by the Costa Rican Constitutional Court that devises mostly the laws related to election procedures.

 

A well devised and functional constitution is responsible for the gradual development of the country ever since its re-emergence that happened almost a decade ago. The Costa Rican constitution has ensured a peaceful political scenario which is responsible for a steady economic growth within the country. But the most important feature that makes this constitution special is the excellent set of regulatory laws that ensures peace and order within the state. The excellent legal system is supported by a well defined judicial system that considers the constitution as the supreme authority of the state higher than the government.

Such a liberal approach of the country’s constitution is evident from its involvement with the United Nations. The constitution is also the source of the many flexible and easy rules that are imposed on the foreign visitors. The constitution of Costa Rica promises simple procedures of acquiring property or citizenship to its visitors from distant lands. These features have been mainly responsible for the growth of the tourism industry and new settlers in the sparsely populated region of Costa Rica.
